I digiscrapping and my favorite place to scrap online has been with my friends at Deco-Pages! I was a member Creative Team for 4 1/2 years and had the opportunity to make LOs for all the wonderful designers at Deco-Pages. The site is now closed and I miss it so VERY much!

I am taking a break from my digital scrapping...but to prevent withdrawal symptoms, I am on two Creative Teams for now! Check out their blogs and watch here for my layouts with their great kits!

Thoughtful Eyes made using Simply Serene

Thankfully, I always save my program's PNG Plus file with all layers still available so all I had to do was correct the name from Avery to Reese.  Interestingly, in my program even if I convert a LO to jpg, the layers are available until I close the file. This was my original LO...I added the background when I had posted it to Retro Designs' Blog and it didn't show up very well against the blog background.  Since I hadn't closed the file I had only added the background in the jpg view and didn't go back and change the original PNG Plus view.  Decided to post the original LO w/o the background this time.  OK, Nana...next time get the grandkid's name right and you won't need to make any changes...LOL!
I knew when I first saw Helen's restoration of her mother's childhood photo that I had seen those eyes before.  My first thought was what sad eyes.  I quickly search through photos and came up with these two.  Fortunately for me I know the story behind these somewhat sad looking eyes.  Tonia was observing lots of activity outside the nursery viewing window during family time as many parents, grandparents and siblings were there to see the newborns.  Moments before she was smiling and pointing to her new baby sister.  Avery was helping mom by holding Miller's bottle while mom changed Miller's diaper.  Moments before she was smiling at Papa telling her what a good girl she was for helping Mom.  Seems that sometimes the camera captures a split second of deep thought that we may never know what comes to mind between the smiles.    Retro Designs kit, "Simply Serene" used for this LO may give another insight...the camera captured a simply serene moment.  Previews of "Simply Serene" and additional LO samples can be found at Retro Designs Online Store.

  1. What a surprise to see my mother´s eyes gazing out from above your own collection of sad looking tots! And what a good idea it was to recolour the photos of Tonia and Avery to match my old sepia photo. These 3 generations show that times may change but children don´t.

I love your use of Simply Serene for this wistful page. Its muted blues not only match the mood of the children but it makes the photos pop off the page.

  2. I knew that Reese looked a lot like Tonia, but these pictures really show the striking resemblance. You have Reese labeled as Avery though :)

  3. Oooops...I must have been thinking about Avery. I know I have called the wrong name occasionally when talking but can't believe I actually wrote Avery not only in the LO but in the description, too! Seems like I made the LO several days before posting it...may be I had just seem Avery's picture you sent of her in the new baseball gear. Or maybe I'm getting scatterbrained in my old age...LOL!
