I digiscrapping and my favorite place to scrap online has been with my friends at Deco-Pages! I was a member Creative Team for 4 1/2 years and had the opportunity to make LOs for all the wonderful designers at Deco-Pages. The site is now closed and I miss it so VERY much!

I am taking a break from my digital scrapping...but to prevent withdrawal symptoms, I am on two Creative Teams for now! Check out their blogs and watch here for my layouts with their great kits!

Granny's School Days

These are photos of my Granny's School Days.  You will see her circled on the back row.  Granny was born in 1909 and married at 15 so this was prior to 1924.  Interesting that she had these photos of her teachers, especially the one of them washing up and getting a drink from the facet.  My Granny got her first facet in her house in 1969 so it seems strange to see a facet way out in the middle of nowhere in the 1920's.  In the background you can see horses.  The horse in the the photo is Bandy.  Granny told me she rade Bandy to school for a several years.  Pretty Shabby was perfect for this heritage LO of Granny's "Dear Old Golden Rule Days"!  Oooops...should it be "Ole"?  Either way, these photos are OLD!  You can see previews of Pretty Shabby HERE  and you will find a few freebies, too!

  1. What an amazing collection of photos, not only of your grandmother and her teachers but even of the horse she rode to school! I can see how she´d need some kind of transport as that school seems to be out in the middle of nowhere. I wonder if it´s still there and if it now has some kind of road leading to it rather than what looks like a beaten trail!
Love your use of the font/alphabet in this and the time element to hold all the photos together. Even the shabby little notebook is in keeping with the era. A wonderful page to capture these long ago moments in time.

  2. A wonderful collection of your Granny's photos! Helen had a good question as to whether that school is still there. You put it all together beautifully.
